Fire & Water I
This is a special limited collection of six original abstracts inspired by Psalm 66:
10 For you, O God, have tested us;
you have tried us as silver is tried.
11 You brought us into the net;
you laid a crushing burden on our backs;
12 you let men ride over our heads;
we went through fire and through water;
yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.
Why abstracts?
Before I studied art, I often wondered why artists who had abilities to paint realistically would create abstracts. I remembered being very surprised to find out that Picasso had exceptional realism skills. As I’ve grown in my abilities in classical realism I have found a renewed joy in abstracts. Abstracts are pure symbol. Abstracts have the ability to become more than a beautiful set of lines and colors but take on meaning and feeling in powerful ways. I think of abstracts like the dreamscape of art. In dreams we work out fears and hopes. In painting abstracts, I begin an intuitive process that leads me on a journey of discovery about the themes in my own life and heart. I hope you enjoy this new collection and find a piece that speaks to you too.
